Our Perspective

The landscape for energy data is rapidly changing as industry programmes accelerate toward digital-first operations, consumer empowerment, and smart infrastructure. Auth.Energy is actively participating in several initiatives—from the rollout of the Smart Data Infrastructure, to pilot programmes for market-wide half-hourly settlement, and collaborative efforts to define best practices for consent management. We believe:
  • Transparency and simplicity should be the foundation of energy data journeys.
  • End-users deserve visibility and control over how their data is accessed and used.
  • The future energy ecosystem must balance innovation with robust security and compliance.

Design Principles

Our approach is shaped by ongoing engagement with regulators, suppliers, and technology platforms. We strive for:
  • Modular, API-first architecture supporting diverse integration pathways.
  • UX patterns prioritising clarity, consent granularity, and minimal friction for users and partners.
  • Adherence to government privacy frameworks and GDPR, with enhanced audit and reporting capabilities.

Industry Programmes and Commentary

We’re monitoring and contributing to programmes including:
  • Government’s Smart Data initiative: Developing interoperability standards for consumer data portability and privacy.
  • Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement: Building tooling for timely, accurate metering data exchange and user permissions.
  • Flexibility and VPP schemes: Designing scalable authentication for emerging distributed energy platforms.
Each programme presents distinctive challenges and opportunities. Our commentary section, included in this documentation, shares practical insights and lessons learned, with candid views on industry progress and future directions.
